Eh, the robots hand was moving downwards together with the falling Shia 3:24, that's why he could catch him without killing him, he slowly adjusted then the speed of the hand until it stopped. Thumbs down for logic in this video, can't watch more. : /

So let me get this straight, catching a human when they are midway to the ground isn't safe, especially if they are being saved by someone like Superman or Optimus Prime?

  • Dumbass Drivers Of Denver

Yeah so if you pay attention when Optimus Prime catches him he doesn't just stop him mid-air. After making initial contact his hand goes down decelerating his fall. This works in exactly the same way as landing on an airbag would.

Not the exact same as hitting the pavement, there was some room to slow down while the hand was moving down...not nearly enough but given sufficient deceleration that could be a way to save him....would still hurt like hell
And for the virus...that is not impossible, nor directly science related. Just very very unlikely in so short a time....nust have had help from geohot
And for reversing time that is a horrible misunderstanding of the physics of FTL travel.

These movies weren't made to show any true science, they are purely for entertainment. Nothing else. Granted the Climate change theme ones had a political agenda and as in what, real life? The science in those movies is as bogus as the claims made today regarding climate change, global warming, nuclear winters, pick your poison. Seems every few years they rename the expected disaster. To me that real insult here is Will Smith and his no talent, at all, none nada never had any talent son, lousy science and lousy acting. The twofer. That is really the worst thing about all this. You really can't count on Hollywood or any other entertainment group to be accurate in any kind of science, they might be close but not completely correct. Hell Edgar Rice Burroughs had some great ideas on the future with some of his writings.

Superman's Kryptonian physique generates a subtle protective field around him and anyone he's touching, allowing him to catch falling people and do things like fly Lois to the Fortress of Solitude without her freezing or asphyxiating.
A deleted scene on the disc for Independence Day shows Jeff Goldblum analyzing the base code of the downed fighter and figuring out how uploading a virus would work.
In the novelization of Star Wars, before Han and Luke go to the Falcon's guns to fight off the TIE fighters, Han explains to Luke that the gunners' headsets take ship sensor data and translate it to audio over the speakers, and that's why we "hear sound in space."

I can understand why this video was made, in a funny way. The thing is that if you watch a movie to learn actual science then you probably should have paid more attention in school. Movies to me are all about fantasy and escaping reality for two hours. If you really want to make a list like this in seriousness then list the top 10 documentaries that have bogus science and keep an UNBIASED opinion. I doubt this is something WatchMojo would do though, especially the unbiased part lol.

Most of this I agree with, save 1. In the Transformers scene, observe, Prime lowers his hand slowly and matches Sam's velocity, therefore, catching him like a net rather than a steel slab. Ergo, making this one completely legit, as opposed to the Superman scene in which he met her moving in an opposite direction, which indeed, would have potentially ripped her in half.

Armageddon - The Oilrigscene where oil is gushing out on the deck. 2 things is wrong in that scene. #1 A drilling crew would never spil oil like that, you don't want uncontrolled spills on your rig. #2 For each kilometer you drill into the Earth, the temprature rises with 30 degress Celsius. So if they struk oil at 1 km, the oil would be 30 degress hot. Fair enough that you can dance around in it. If the oil is struck at 2 km down, it wolud be 60 degress hot. Everyone would be burned

The Core was so bad and every respect. They are travelling in a rod-shaped ship straight down, yet they can walk up and down the length of the ship with ease. So what, landing on an asteroid is virtually impossible. Superman can't reverse time. Creating sexy as mother fucking fuck, Kelly Lebrock using a computer, a modem & bras on your head is ridiculous. Big fucking deal. I watch a movie because it's entertaining and because Kelly Lebrock in the late '80's is awesome.

Like, WTF is sharknado doing here, who is dumb enough to believe there is ANY science behind it. Like Weird science. Also there is another part of the genre name, the FICTION part. I thought at first this list would include flics that claim the fiction isn't the bigger part of the movie. Like gravity, or The martian.
