STD can be distilled down to 1 line of dialog. micheal burnam; "im trying to save YOU all!" not "im trying to save US all!" . "im trying to save YOU all!" in other words "i know better than you whats good for you." a true elitist viewpoint.
one thing STD has never explained. why isnt ok for klingons to stay klingons?

So after I finish watching Enterprise I should watch Orville. Check. Enterprise actually is up there with Deep Space Nine as my two favorite treks.. the whole temporal cold war episodes were very good television in retrospect. TNG and Voyager are also good but I'd rank it Enterprise=Deep Space nine>TNG>Voyager>Original Series for me. Discovery is like all the Terminator movies after the second one.... we just pretend that doesn't exist and is not canon.

Have not seen an episode of the Star Trek: Discovery and dont intend to, I started watching with TNG, did not like DS9 but loved Voyager, did not even question Janeway as a captain because right out the gates she was a bad ass with grace, decorum, and an attitude of "fuck with with my crew, enjoy a torpedo up your ass" I have only seen clips of STD and i was appalled, even with the new Star Trek Movies i gave some credit, but the show looks like a massive train wreck of SJW/NPC BS with the star trek name on it.

8:28 The Klingons are NOT Trumpsters,
but some kind of Middle-Eastern race.
Doesn't matter which, it's just offensive now.
If I recall, in the original series Klingons represented Russians,
and the Romulans were the Chinese.
    Spock, of course, was half-Japanese.

Wait a minute, your channel analytics are not representative of all sci-fi fans. They're representative of what kind of audience you attract. I know of many women who like sci-fi. And even if way more men than women are into sci-fi, which I concede is currently probably true, maybe the reason for that is that sci-fi has always been marketed way more towards men and the main characters were always mostly male.
Maybe the sci-fi industry is starting to realize that there is a much bigger market to be had, if they start marketing to women as well by showing female characters.
Aside from all of that, I still agree that Discovery missed the mark in several regards and I enjoyed the Orville way more

Living in Japan i am use to reading subtitles (although I can understand Japanese most of the time) the best thing about the Klingon's was the fact they spoke Klingon - I loved it. Sadly it was the only thing i liked about Discovery. A one episode worth of story spanning the whole season, endless whining, arguments and teenage like behavior. I liked the Gabriel Lorca, but hated almost every other federation character. It was a real struggle to get though Discovery and was akin to extreme constipation. I knew i had to complete this, but was not enjoying it at all. 'IwlIj jachjaj The orville on the other hand, while not great, was an pleasure. I looked forward to watching each episode and while i did not like some, most were very entertaining.

Fuck the critics, this sci fi series is the best thing to have happened in modern sci fi.... Discovery im sorry i was open to it but after i watched this series..i just realised just how much they destroyed the integrity of the original star trek vision( discovery i mean not Orville). This series does not even have to follow rodenberry vison but it is the closest series we have had to his vision since enterprise ended over 13 years ago. Seth you brought a much needed sci fi show to inspire us to hope for the best in the future when living in a time the future seems so bleak. :)

One thing I do not like about discovery is they finally get a black female captain if she’s an asshole. I didn’t start like her until the last few episodes in the first season. Something that really pisses me off is that Star Trek instead of being after Janeway travel through the Delta quadrant it is stuck between I believe enterprise and next generation. I think I’m not even sure where if it’s in the timeline. It sucks because I grew up watching Captain Kirk when I was a little girl fell in love by the time we got to Jane way I was totally hooked. My husband makes fun of me because Every once in a while he’ll say oh are you watching Star Wars? And I will flip out I’m a Trekkie this is not Star Wars this is Star Trek! Anyway the Oreville is what STD should have been and it’s sad to watch this series diminish in such a fashion.

Discovery reeks of corporate greed. Did they not think they would make enough money by simply putting it on the CBS proper? At least Fox had the decency to put the Oroville on a basic channel instead of using it as a launching platform for a streaming app. Michael Burnham is the vice Admiral Holdo of Star Trek except Holdo at least sacrificed herself and thus rid us of her stupidity.

the harmonious crew seems to be the key. While it seems a little off to say so, the fact that everyone is a professional who even if they disagree, can work together, is key to Star Trek. If people are distracted by arguments in office politics, they're ineffective, and Star Trek isn't a ragtag militia or Rebel group like in Star Wars. They are a formal, professional military, and their actions should reflect that. It might sound small, but that mindset is key to the soul of Star Trek

I would disagree with you. I liked ST: discovery more than Orville. Yes, in comparing the first 4 episodes of each show, the Orville is better. But after completing season 1 of both shows, I feel that Discovery became better with their stories. The Orville, for me, plateaued after the 4th episode. Don't get me wrong, but I was looking forward to watching the Orville when it came out. But as episode went on, the Orville became less funny for me. STD seems to have a pretty clear message that contributes nicely to the continuum.
It goes like this: When you put multiple women in charge of starships, this leads to the deaths of many innocent lives, disastrous intragalactic wars and an uncomfortable work environment marked by constant bitching.
So starfleet made the pivot to uber males like Kirk. This contributed heavily to the stability of the space government and the establishment of an expansive federation as new planets joined the federation with every shoreleave.
It would only be 300 or so years before they came up with the technology necessary to offset female inferiority in the form of neurogell packs. Effectively the ships male brain would undermine the Janeways hyper aggressive female atitudes.
Needless to say, the first tests of the technology were spectacular failures.
    It's god damned genius.

One of the things about Discovery that makes it unwatchable is the camera work. If it's not shakycam, it's dutch angles. And if it's not dutch angles, it's swoopy camera spinning for no good reason. Combine this with the underlit sets, and the propensity to backlight characters so they're lost in a glow of haze, and what you end up with is a barrage of disorienting visual noise. It's not just impossible to follow, it's amateurish. Shots should be chosen because they help tell the story, not just to show off how much money you can waste per second of screentime.

Nailed it. The more-than-aptly named STD is just more proof that whatever SJW morons lay their claws on immediately turns to toxic waste. The Orville, on the other hand, is essentially Galaxy Quest turned into an episode show: a reverential homage which, at the same time, is not above lovingly mocking its idol.
