WTF? Why are these characters watching this not already running for their lives? How can they even see or breath properly after giant fireballs land in the fucking corn field?!!!! You would think a guy who makes sin videos would consider this. Sir this sounds like a major fail on your part and this plot sounds slap dash at best.

For your first book it was really good. A few mistakes and pacing wasn't always the best not to mention a few cliches and maybe one plothole. But the story, the characters and just the coolness of the powers was all very well done and you should be proud. Keep up the great work.

Hi Jeremy, I just finished The Ables yesterday. (SPOILER ALERT: If you have not read The Ables, and you want to be surprised, STOP READING THIS NOW.)
Your book was really enjoyable, and I had a good time reading it. I am not sure why, but for the first quarter of the book, I kept envisioning Phillip as being wheelchair bound, even thought you clearly identified him as being blind.
I liked the idea of towns mostly populated by supers, and the kids having a super high school. Kinda like that movie Sky High, but your story really dealt on a more emotional level of being a kid thrust into some pretty scary circumstances, super powers or no. The adult level of super powers were clearly what I call World Cracking, but I suppose that was mitigated by the fact that there were not a bunch of nigh invulnerable superman wannabes flying around. I enjoyed the concept that they all worked together to make their powers more effective.
I thought most of your dialogue was spot on for kids of that age. A couple of times, I got pulled out of the story while trying to imagine some of the dialogue coming from teens, but not overly so.
I initially wondered why the two female students in their class were excluded from most of the action in the story, it would have been hard to have a sign language interpreter hanging around, while also coming up with a way to effectively describe visual elements from a blind persons perspective. I particularly enjoyed the way you dealt with the issues of Phillip seeing things through Henry's eyes. The weather controller girl with porphyria was a nice touch, but couldn't she learn how to create shade for herself? just sayin... eh, maybe that would have been clunky.
I did sort of think that the kids were dealt a lot of bad hands over and over, initially, which seemed a little much at first, but overall lent well to making them a stronger team.
There were some "Goonies" moments, which I enjoyed, and the interactions with Finch were tense enough to be scary, while not being overused. I kinda wondered why Bentley didn't use the camera snake rather than the rubber ball robot, initially. I imagined a scene with the kids seeing Finch sitting in the chair, patiently waiting for them. They would have had a brief yet spirited discussion about whether to enter the room or not, with Phillip ultimately stepping up and leading them, with nothing much changing the outcome overall.
The outcome of Finch's identity was a surprise, as was Phillip's extremely violent reaction. Donnie was perhaps the most easy to figure out, but I really enjoyed how you wrote him. It would be interesting to see what becomes of Donnie, in the future, as well as the others.
Thanks for an enjoyable read, and also for your TRclips channels. I am a huge fan of CinemaSins, and the Dear Hollywood letters.
    Best Regards,
    Kurt Kier

This may be a weird question, but I live in the Netherlands, and I do not have a credit card. Is there any way of buying this book from Amazon or somewhere, where they accept ANYTHING other than credit card, such as iDeal, PayPal, etc? They don't exactly have Barnes & Nobles stores in the Netherlands either, as far as I know. If anyone has any idea, I would love to hear it, cause I would love to read this book, or listen to the eBook.

Yeah but writing a book in which the protagonists are disabled, doesn't mean that the book is exempt from being criticized as being a cliche. From what I heard from this video, this book is a giant piece of shit cliche. It doesn't mean that the book is bad, just that it's not that CREATIVE, thats all.

Hi Jeremy, you probably won't read this but I want you to know I am really enjoying your book. I was born without my right leg and while that isn't anywhere near as bad as being blind your book still hit me like a truck emotionally. As a guy who went through Highschool with a physical disability I could easily relate to your book and even though I had to order it from another country it was well worth the asking price.
